Lautem Fort

Forts constructed during the Portuguese administration of Timor-Leste dot the country side, especially along the northern coast line. Nearly all are in an advanced state of decay. Most go unnoticed by any tourists that pass by and have little interest by the local community.

Yep maps. Everyone loves them. Especially my Mum. Did i mentioned that my Mum likes maps? Hi Mum.
M.Hero; go forth and whakenam...
The fort in Lautem Vila, District Lautem, was built by the Portuguese, occupied by the Japanese in WWII and used by the Indonesian military in the period of 1975-99 (so i'm told). It makes sense that the Timorese aren't so fussed about it...

Assistant Field Exploration Officer employed for her pretty looks and sense of style doing her bit for archaeological preservation in Timor-Leste.

The curious M.Hero dressed in striking exploration pants and holding his faithful whakenam stick.

The view of the Lautem Fort for most tourists who come this far east... a blur out the car window as they head to Jaco Island.

    1. Hi Michael,
I'm glad that you found the blog and enjoyed the read. You are welcome to use some of the images in your report as long as they are referenced according to the specifications set out in the CDU Harvard Referencing guide... i'm actually marking assignments for CUC106 so i'll know if you don't!

I'm looking forward to seeing the projects as they start developing.
      Cheerio.

    2. Hi Matthew, (yes got that 't' this time)

      >i'm actually marking assignments for CUC106 so i'll know if you don't!
I guess that is almost to be expected :). Not a lot on the net about Codo.
Our group has a habit of referencing (for practice) our communications.
Here's what I wrote to the group:
"Hero (2013) wrote,"The road down into aldeia Codo (describing a picture), home of the brilliant Xefi Japan. Xefi (Chief/Village leader in Tetun) Japan is one of the gentlest and happiest people that i have met, and always had an open door for coffee and cigarettes for us all. Without warning, he made a 2 hour journey into my farewell BBQ to say goodbye. Japan is his code name from the resistance days... "

How do you reference a blog? Like an internet resource I guess.

Hero, M, 2013, 'Stumblings', Blog of Matthew Hero, viewed 12 April 2013,

      This is worth a read."

      Cheers,
      Michael
